| The scheme is open to any company (not divisions within companies) who has less than
200 employees, and who wishes to research the overseas prospects for its products or services, provided that they
are mainly of UK origin, and are exportable from the UK. UK trade associations are also eligible. Advice EMRA can
offer free professional advice on how to set about export marketing research, and on all stages of a project from
field research in the UK to writing the report following overseas field work. This is particularly useful to firms
undertaking 'in-house' research for the first time. Financial Help a) If you commission professional consultants
to undertake research, EMRA will pay up to half the cost. b) If a member of your own staff has the ability and
experience to carry out marketing research, EMRA can support 'in-house' studies by paying half of essential travel
costs and interpreter's fees, plus a daily allowance for one researcher. This facility does not extend to research
relating to European Community countries. c) EMRA will pay up to a third of the cost of purchasing published marketing
research (but will not pay for directories, market research overviews or for updating subscriptions). Limitations
on support The Scheme may be used by companies for research projects three times. A maximum of 2 from the 3 allowed
in one year, one study per country except for the USA where two are permissible. In addition two published market
research studies per firm per year can be supported. Maximum support level per study £20,000. No more than
£40,000 per firm per year. TRADE ASSOCIATIONS If a Trade Association commissions research, or carries it
out 'in-house' on behalf of its members the first study supported at 75% maximum grant £60,000. Second 662/3%
maximum grant £53,000. Subsequent studies 50% maximum grant £40,000. Trade Associations are not subject
to limitations on the number of studies. Support is NOT given for: general background research, sales or promotion
trips, market development exercises, attending trade fairs or symposia (see other grant schemes), or overseas visits
where market research is not the prime objective. |
